Developing a vaccine

People have no idea what it takes for the scientific community to develop a medication or a vaccine that will benefit mankind.  The polio vaccines took years to develop but once they were approved families did not want to wait long to get their children inoculated.  In order for that to happen the vaccine was tested numerous times before it was released.  A scientific discovery is tested by a number of scientists to make sure the formula would work as it is supposed to.

Because of the knowledge scientists have of theories discovered in the past they are able to speed up the process for future development of medications and vaccines. The delivery system to get the vaccine in the body was already developed. As I understand it, the inoculation sends a signal to our body that they will be changing our RNA(Ribonucleic Acid, the make-up of our cells).  All we had to do is to develop a vaccine that would then attack the virus and make a change in the virus’s future through the signals given. By what I understand, that it confuses the virus to eventually destroy itself or makes it unable to attack our immune system. Mind you, this is from someone who thinks he understands the science but in no way a scientist.

All that knowledge is beneficial to developing something that works and keeps us healthy.  Why anyone would depend on the commentary of a television or radio pundit as to the veracity of the vaccine is beyond my comprehension. I often wonder if someone could be charged with murder if they passed the virus on to other people because they did not believe in the vaccination or the use of face masks.  I am sure it would be very hard to prosecute.  But if that person did pass the virus on to a loved one and that loved one died the guilt would last forever.
