Political Changes

This nations citizenry scares the hell out of me.  We have a political party that has been trying to kill our democracy and install a fascist style of government.  Let’s take a look at the items that have changed in the last two years: State Republican legislatures have passed laws disenfranchising a number of voters. … Continue reading Political Changes

God and #45

I heard a woman exclaim on television that God wanted Trump as President of our country. She must have a different God than the one I worship. Her god accepts a person who is a narcissist, misogynistic, racist and a bully.  His principles involve lying, mocking the disabled, grabbing women between the legs and calling… Continue reading God and #45

First Amendment

My professional life was spent as a newspaper publisher. I have a great love and respect for our First Amendment to our Constitution guaranteeing our freedom of speech and freedom of the press.  Those freedoms come with responsibilities.  Nothing irritates me more than all of the misinformation and disinformation offered by the many computer platforms… Continue reading First Amendment

Making Sense

Nothing makes sense anymore – no values, no morals, and no civility. People are dying of a Chinese virus, but it’s racist to refer to it as Chinese even though it began in China.  We are clearly living in an upside-down world where right is wrong and wrong is right, where moral is immoral and… Continue reading Making Sense

No Fly Zone

I have been noticing a number of letters calling for the United States to protect a “no fly” zone over Ukraine.  Some accuse President Biden of being soft and not being contentious against the Putin invasion of that country.  There is no doubt that such an action would further escalate the war and draw us… Continue reading No Fly Zone

Kistner

The article concerning the 2022 vote in the Second District with Angie Craig against Tyler Kistner is interesting.  I am a supporter of Craig, but I still would like some answers from Kistner.  I believe he had a slogan that expressed the thought of “send a Marine to do the job.”  Marines are trained for… Continue reading Kistner

With the House January 6 Committee televised hearings and the mid-term elections coming up this year, I think that the Republican politicians should take the oath of office and pledge their allegiance to the forty-fifth president and skip any mention of the Constitution.  They and their followers are going to try and disrupt any evidence of the January 6th attempted coup on our democracy.  Unfortunately, they have millions of brain-washed electorates who will believe that the riot was only a tourist situation gone wrong.

By leaving the Constitution out of the pledge they can show where their true alliances subsist. We will be able to see exactly the true sentiments of those elected to power and try to adjust the loss of many of our freedoms.  According to reports I have read; the televised hearings will have evidence of… Continue reading With the House January 6 Committee televised hearings and the mid-term elections coming up this year, I think that the Republican politicians should take the oath of office and pledge their allegiance to the forty-fifth president and skip any mention of the Constitution.  They and their followers are going to try and disrupt any evidence of the January 6th attempted coup on our democracy.  Unfortunately, they have millions of brain-washed electorates who will believe that the riot was only a tourist situation gone wrong.

This world and our nation are getting older.  So are the inhabitants of our country.  Many of us are living on Social Security and little else.  Some were lucky to have worked for a company who provided a retirement fund.  Many have savings that they accumulated to supplement their retirement.  Because of flaws in the US Code Section 42 concerning rent increases many of us are seeing our savings dwindling and the amount we counted on is shortening our ability to cover expenses.

US Code Section 42 allows a developer to build a senior structure and get a tax discount if the developer rents to those over the age of 55 and fall into a yearly income range that is determined by Housing and Urban Development statues. Anyone exceeding those ranges cannot rent from that developer.  Each year… Continue reading This world and our nation are getting older.
